Can a turbo die at 93K??
Well, the title outlines most of my problem right now.
2004 1.8TQ.
93,4xx miles.
The bro is out with the car this afternoon when I get a call from him. "Something's wrong with the car..." Now my brother isn't the most responsible person in the world when it comes to the car (daddy's), so if he's calling me about something wrong with it.... theres something wrong with it. He tells me that it has no power when he tries speeding up and theres a strong, loud vibration.
He brought it home and I'm telling myself its the turbo just from his description. When I go to start it it took a good 3 seconds for it to get going. From there I noticed the violent vibration... almost like going down a really rocky road, as well as a clicking from the front of the car. I popped the hood and the clicking was coming from the "turbo area". Best as I can tell it is the turbo.... clicking about 5 times a second. Going inside the car my brother pointed out that the coolant guage has dropped near bottom. Rolled it down the driveway and parked it in the street. Minimal power to the wheels.
The dad was thinking of selling it at some point in the near future. What needs to happen here? Anyone have any input for me? New stock, used stock, k04, other upgrade.
Thanks for anything guys, rock on.

Take off the damn hose to the turbo and try to turn the compressor wheel on the turbo by hand. If it won't turn the turbo is shot. Turbos generally sound like a police siren when they are bad.
coil pack?...the first turbo on my car went at 60k (previous owner)....
sounds like mad missfiring....go to autozone and have the codes read...
hopefully it's not da turbo....gl!

Oh cool down has definitely not been something considered for months now.
-Ya its the coolant temp guage, likes to hang out on the low side.
-I'll try to turn the compressor by hand tomorrow. Not 100% familiar with the turbo orientation and the hoses leading to it as I've never had turbo problems or upgrades. Can I just take off any of the hoses larger than 2 in. and expect a compressor wheel? Definitely nothing like a police siren, just a rapid loud clicking.
-Wouldn't even want to attempt to move it to autozone for a code reading, that uncool right now.
Really appreciate all the feedback guys.

I sure hope your bro isn't trying to f*** you over and put something into the turbo inlet and thats the clicking your hearing, cause THAT would suck. Yeah if you take off the line you can touch the compressor wheel.
