can you fit a bike inside an A4?
I would like to keep my bike inside my car for security reasons. Plus Im sure with a roof rack I'll pull in to the garage and forget its on top. I was at the dealer last night checking out a brilliant red/beige A4. It looks like I should be able to get my bike inside. May have to take the wheel off, but that sno big deal. Any real world experience vs me eyeballing? thx
The trunk is definitely the best way to travel. I worked at a bike shop for over 4 years and saw alot of people drive into their garage with expensive bikes on their car. I also lost a very nice bike in I-10 when a friends rack came off his car. I had a pick up for years so that worked. I just got an A4 and the trunk has plenty of room for the bike.
As far as the dirt issue goes it comes down to which one is more your baby.

Thanks everyone for the replies. It is a road bike I'll be putting in her so it will relatively clean (my other baby). With the trunk liner gray/black getting it dirty should not be a problem. Heck I've been transporting in the back seat of my Seville, with the wheel off, and did get some grease on the driveshaft tunnel.
AS for the Avant, yes I love the look. What got me started was all wheel drive and the ability to put my bike inside. So I start looking at cute ute's, CRV, Highlander and Outback. Drive em all a few times, just didn't do it for me. I still like to drive my vehicles. One of the Subie dealers also sells Audi. Drove it and felt I would enjoy that more ( A LOT MORE ) then the others. I talked to the dealer about the Avant but the A4 SE was more within my budget. Plus, first Audi so I'm cautious. My German cars have not been as reliable as my Japanese cars. If I really like it I may get rid of the "toy" and get an S4. That car has got to be UNBELIEVABLE based on the specs. Plus I can drive it all year vs the Boxster which is sitting in the garage while I make car payments. Oh this hobby we choose is so expensive.
