I have a 2002 A4 3.0 with a bad TCU... I have the new one and am trying to replace it, but I can't find it!!!

In previous threads, everyone says it's under the passenger carpet, but it's not there! Perhaps it's to the left where I can't get the carpet up?

in mine I had to just remove the plastic door sills and pull up the carpet - it was inside of a black plastic holder. don't know where they keep yours.

 

was it directly under the carpet in the center? there's nothing there on the B6

 

yep - all I had to do was pull up the carpet a little and it was right there - near the door not the center of the car. no idea about the b6

 

According to my Bentley manual, the TCU in the B6 tiptronics is inside the transmission oil pan. Probably not a DIY repair unless you're advanced.

maybe thats why GIAC never released a TCU chip for the B6's - it was not a DIY removal and they figured it wouldn't be a big seller

 

that makes sense... and it's not too expensive 1.4 hrs labor @ $75/hr
