Can't get out of Park!!!
Please help!!!
I have a B5 A4. I replaced the brake light switch several months back.
Yesterday, it took me a couple times hitting the brake to get the car to recognize it and let me shift out of park. On the way home, I recognized that when I hit the brake the lights weren't coming on. Well, I thought it was the sensor again. When I looked under there, I noticed there are two very similar looking sensors connecting to my brake pedal. I can't remember which one is the brake light sensor. Also, what is the other one?
Thanks ahead of time!!
I need to get this figured out so I can go to work tomorrow!!!!

it's either a bad brake switch or there's sumthing wrong with ur shifter. ewll there's a little sqaure by ur shifter with a slit on one side of it. if u open that and stick ur key in, it'll do that same thing as applying the brakes to shift. that's a temporary solution so u don't get stranded though. get the problem fix, don't delay it lol
Most likely it is the brake interlock switch. It is what prevents you from taking the car out of park unless the brake pedal is pressed. Unfortunately, I don't have my Bentley with me, so I can't give any more details.
K, found out the the second switch is for the cruise control and has a vacuum line attached to it. I'm going to change out the brake light switch one more time and see what happens!
