Ok so i disconnected my battery today, and now that its reconnected my stereo is in safe mode. in the manual it says that there is a code i need to enter, but because i bought the car used the part that it is written on is torn out. i dont really feel like waiting until monday to have the dealership figure it out, anyone know how i can find out what my code is?

 

I had that problem - only my used Audi came with a code, just the wrong one. Talk about annoying!

From what I understand it's a dealer-only thing to get the code. Maybe someone has a work-around, but I did a lot of searching around for an answer and the dealer was the only one who could help me.

 

The code is sometimes on a sticker in the spare wheel well, or alternatively, hidden under the crossbeams of the trunk. Get out your flashlight and if your lucky you will find it. if not expect the dealer to charge 100 bucks to look it up.

 

If you have more than one local dealer, call all of them and see if they charge anything. The annapolis dealership told me 80 bucks and the dover dealer said that they dont charge anything to get you a code.

 

how many digits is the code, and how do i enter it? just by using the 1-6 buttons on the head unit?

 

I think it's 4 digits... so there's only 10K possibilities!

But yeah... if you bought it used from an audi dealer, they should definately do it no charge.. if you bought it privately, call the previous owner! If you bought from a regular used car lot... then you're up the creek, without a paddle.

The suggestion of calling multiple dealers is a good one.

 

i do have a sticker in the wheel well, but cant really decipher what the different numbers mean. what would it say next to the safety code number?

 

do you have any past records of service from your audi dealership? it's on there.

when i got my windows tinted, for some reason when i picked up my car, the radio was in safe mode. i also bought my car used, and apparently the dealers gave me a manual from a different car, cause the sticker with the radio code didn't work.

i checked my service records, and found it on there.

just make sure you get it right the first time or second time, otherwise you need to wait an hour with the car on...really annoying.

 

i cant seem to find it on any of my service documents, i guess i'll just have to wait until tomorrow and try my luck at the dealership.

 

sucks i dont wanna go get my code, but im forced to.
