Which car to buy?
Hey guys hopefully I should soon be a audi A4 owner, and I am looking for your imput on which car to purchase.
I do like to mod my vehicles and would probably take the following route in doing so: Chip, Intake, Exhaust, Rims, Audio, Suspension, then back to performance mods.
It would probably take a year or two (if ever) to get "backto the performance mods", sokeeping all of this in mind which vehicle do you think I would be more happy with and why.

I just bought my audi 2 weeks ago and i was faced with the same decision. Ive driven both V6 and 1.8T, A6's, A8's and TT's in the past 7 years. If you want a A4, get a 1.8T man for sure. And get a manual trans. Even if you arent experienced at it, IMO it would be a fairly easy car to learn on. (some may disagree, but i learned on a RX-8 which i can tell you is WAY harder to learn on that the audi i just bought) try for a quattro (awd) too! If you really wanna do performance mods, you want a 1.8T, no contest!!! or splurge and get a s4... do some research (use the "search" button at the very top of this page)here in the forum, im sure you'll find the answers you want. Good luck im sure you'll love what ever Audi you buy!!!

Please read the stickys on the top of the page on the 6cyl vs. 4cyl. 1.8t is better for mods but 3.0 is reliable.

Wow, the 1.8 is more popular than I thought.
Would you guys recommend the 3.0 if all I was going to do for performance was chip, exhaust, and intake? Or still the 1.8?

True $ 500.00 for 5-8 hp is not very good gain for the money, but the 3.0 has 50 HP stock over the 1.8T.
Is it possible to make up that difference by just chip, exhaust, and intake? I guess what I'm getting at is which car would be faster, a 3.0 A4 6sp manual Quattro w/chip, exhaust, and intake or a 1.8 A4 5spd manual Quattro with the same mods?
