Default Car idle is screwed for

some strange reason. I had my battery replaced and ever since my babies idle is fluttering real low and sometimes it will die. I talked to the Audi service manager he said to drive it it will work itself out but kind of need to know what the hell is wrong. I took it to this place no they couldn't find any reason for it to be idling like this before battery change car ran great. Oh 99 A4 2.8 quattro. any help would be great

Thats one hell of an ignorant statement from the service department, idle problems usually have to do with air volumn into the engine or vaccum leaks. Start with taking off the main hose to the throttle body (back of the engine on a 2.8L) clean out the vavle with some carb cleaner or brake clean. If that doesn't work use that same hose still connected to the throttle body this time and spray a whole can of carb cleaner down the intake while someone is flooring the engine to clean off all the carbon build up on the intake valves.
Check and or change your air filter, and clean your MAF sensor with some electrical contact cleaner.
If all those are ok, check all your vaccum lines for any small leaks.
