Default Car likes to rev?!

Last week while I was coasting to a stop with the car in neutral, foot OFF the gas pedal, the engine rpms shot all the way up and started bouncing off the rev limiter. The pedal was not depressed any at all though. I stomped on the pedal twice and then the revs dropped back to normal idle. Today, same thing, coasting to a stop, car in neutral, and bang, hit the limiter again. Any thoughts on what this is? I know I should take it to a dealer, but the closest one is an hour away, and Murphy's law says they will not be able to replicate it to diagnose.

Wouldn't I get some kinda dummy light for that? The car runs fine, still feels like it is making full power, and has no other symptoms.

Anyway that I can test for a leak?

How would boost leaking cause your car to tach out? That makes 0 sense.

What year is your car? Sounds like you have a '00.5 or newer with a Drive by wire TB and its having problems.

maybe ur car sensed a hot chick near by and it revved to show off lol. it could also be the idle air control valve but then again, the IAC usually causes the car to die. maybe ur gas pedal is getting stuck or sumthing but that's not likely. then again ur engine speed sensor maybe bad causing it. u got me totally stumped because this is the first time i've heard of a car wanting to keep going instead of stop. BTW wut is the rev limited at? i've had mine up to 7k one time and it didn't bounce.

Sorry, I thought I had the cars info in my sig. It is an 05 1/2, 2.0T with a 6 speed. I am sure it is not the pedal getting stuck, cuz the pedal still has full travel.

It is a fault gas pedal assembly , the electrical switch is bad.

That is a common drive by wire complaint when a gas pedal switch goes bad. I have seen it a few times on some Toyotas (I don't work for Audi sorry).
