Hi ,

I drive a 99 Audi A4 Quattro.... I was recently out of town for over 4 weeks and came back to find the batteries were drained out. I decided to replace them as it was time to do so anyway. Once the batteries were replaced the car started fine and runs Ok but it stops abruptly when in motion.

Not sure what’s the problem and how should I approach to fix the problem would appreciate if any once can throw some light on it.

Try a throttle body alignment.
Disconnect your battery again, and leave it off for 30 minutes.
Hook it back up, and turn your key to the ACCESSORY position... don't start the car! Leave it in accessory for like 3 - 5 minutes, might as well do 5 to be safe, and THEN start the car.

Might fix your troubles... for free.

yea that could possibly fix a rough idle as well.

 

Rough idle man, do you have any CEL's? A million things could cause a rough idle... I suppose the throttle alignment could cause it as well. Often a mass air flow thing, or fuel, or spark... lots of things can mess up idle.

But, as the throttle body allignment is quick, easy, and free... it never hurts!

 

Just make sure you have the radio code.

 

Yeah I was gonna come back and post that... but I figured he just changed his battery, so he'd be SOL already if he didnt have it
