car wash damaged something (perhaps a sensor)
Hey guys, I've got a 1999 audi a4 quattro 2.8 30v manual. Recently my ABS light has been blinking along with my brake light. I've done several searches and have narrowed down the problem to either the ABS module or the wheel speed sensors. I have ruled out my rear brake pads (even though they are pretty low) because the light came on a few minutes after I took my car through a car wash where you get your drivers side tires in a track and you leave the e-brake off and dont hold the steering wheel and it drags you through. I find it hard to believe that it is a coincidence that these lights came on. At first glance, I noticed my brake fluid reservoir had a crack in it so i sealed it with some epoxy designed to weld plastic. That returned all of the pressure to the system, which was good, but it didnt fix the blinking lights. Just recently the problem progressed from the alternating blinking between the abs and brake lights to the abs light staying on for that time and the brake light flashing. I think its important to note that the lights remain off until this beeping/blinking occurs. So in summary my question is....Assuming this car wash was the trigger of this problem is it more likely to be a damaged wheel speed sensor or a faulty abs module. And would either of these problems build enough pressure to bust my reservoir, because I believe that occured simultaneously as well. Thanx for your responses.
My brake light has been flashing due to low bake fluid. The only thing that sucks is that its not completley low. But yours is ABS so i would rule out low fluid.
