Castrol to Mobil 1??
Hi,
Specs: 01 A4 1.8TQM
I've been running Castrol Syntec 5w40 in my car since I got it at 110,000km. I'm currently at 156,000km and I was thinking of getting my oil changes done at another place other than Mr.Lube. The place im thinking of getting it done at (Tapp Auto: my tuner) puts 5w50 Mobil 1 in their cars.
Do you guys think I should go with the Mobil 1 or stick to the Castrol Syntec i've been using.
I've never been a fan of switching oil brands but getting my oil changes at this place is just more convienient for me now. They said I can bring in my own oil and its not a problem.
Your thoughts?
Thanks,
Michael

Not too many other than mobile 1 make a 0w40. There's a few others, but they are more rare brands than mobile1.
Here the mobile1 is very easy to find, even places like wal-mart have it.

Where do you get 0w40? It's kind of hard for me to get 0w40 not just Mobile 1 but any brands. I am in NJ.

Dumbest thing I ever heard of.
LOL... sure the state let us change oil ourselves. Well... you are right about pumping gas, because we've got the full service.
Well, it's not just for my car but also for my wife's Rover which needs 0w40. Unfortunately, it is really hard for me to find it. I've checked PepBoys, AutoZone and few other smaller automobile shops but no luck. I haven't check Sears and Wal-Mart yet but I will give it try. Last time when I did the oil change for my wife's Rover, I have to get the oil from a dealer.
Well... I am thinking switch to Royal Purple 5w30 for my car; PepBoys sells it.

Do they let you change your oil by yourself in NJ? I know they wont let you pump gas, so maybe they are trying to discourage oil chages as well.
Dumbest thing I ever heard of.
