Cat converter questions...
So my cat converters have been rattling like a BITCH the past few days. Since I'm trying to narrow down a knock as well I'd like to fix this. It's probably the heat shield but I've got a few questions...
1) I assume if it is the heat shield I can just remove it and not have any harmful effects, right?
2) Do the post cat O2 sensors let you know when you need new cats? Are there other ways to tell? (I know tapping them can reveal a bad cat)
3) Does it matter what kind of converter to get so long as it's OBD2 compliant?
TIA!

RE: Cat converter questions...
Well, removing the heat sheild wont cause any problems, other than the risk of fire depending on what the car is over top of. I.e dont park under a tree in the fall where there are dry leaves on the ground.
2. IDK this one
3. I would think that a certain size is needed to fit in the area where it goes. I dont think all cats are a standard size, but not sure.
I think you found one, didn't you? Saw it in another post I thought. If not, check ecstuning.com, or atp website, or others that sell exhaust systems for our cars.
