hey guys!
I was driving today and my car started stuttering, Thinking one of my plugs died. while I was driving home, my car was going 5-10 miles per hour even when I was flooring it.
When I drove home I smelled something burning. I opend the hood and my CAT was burning RED HOT! WTF!
Any suggestions, don't have a VAG, will bring it in first thing in the am.

its most likely your coil and plug..if the coil didnt pop loose..your gonna need a vag to determine which one is f..ed up..you can try just buying a new coil and keep switchin them till its running normal..im sure your CEL came on too..do alittle search on here about coils..you will find ur info
then, my cat is fried. my car is less than 70k, I thinks it's still under warranty, I look into.
thanks again guys!

When it's runnign red, your running super rich & it's dumping raw fuel in there.
check your FPR, make sure the vacuum line is attached & not leaking. CTS, would be my second look. Then pull all the plug & make sure they all look the same. You might also want to clean the MAF.
Of course look & see if there any stored codes.
Emissions warranty is 8/80

RE: cat is F***ing bruning RED HOT!
Are you sure it was the CAT and not the Turbo that was red? After some heavy driving the turbos are known to get a little red. Im sure you are looking at the cat but just wanted to make sure before you go out and buy another.

All emissions componants are warrented to 80,000 miles by federal law. Your cat running red hot is just a symptom of other problems. If it runed it get the other problems fixed and then take it to the dealer and have them warrentee the cat.

if you were misfiring and dumping gas into your cat it will get hot like that. find out why you're misfiring. must have pulled a code for that no? by the way, you're gonna need a new cat AND PROBABLY O2 sensors. you might get lucky, but in my experience, if you misfire long enough for your cat to end up like that, your sensors and cat will both be junk.
