Default Catback Exhaust

Before I get flamed I have searched the forums for about 2 days. I am looking at upgrading a few things, one of which would be a catback. There is a canadian company called Stebro that makes one for my 2001 A4 1.8T w sport package, anyone know the specs on this thing? most of the posts go like this Miltek > APR >neuspeed >borla is this accurate?

Also I have a ecu that ends in CH apparently neither REVO nor APR can flash this, it needs to be a direct soder. GIAC dearler says they can flash it but it needs to be sent to them. Does this mean they are going to solder in a new chip? Is there a phone number for GIAC since there isnt one on there webpage.

Thanks a lot

Personally i have a catback on my A4 and i found it very hard to find one made by a company that no only added something to the engine (regared it is very little) but also sounded half decent aswell as looked good, i think the company do exist but personally i wud opt for finding a company that will make a one off customised one. This way you can choose your sound, depending on the bore size of the pipe and the tail pipe.

You should really look into milltek and borla more they are really good systems and they do add to your cars perfromance..... granted gains from exhaust alone are very small but thats how it will be with any set up, but get a chip with a free flowing exhaust and a good K&N and you will have very noticable increases...... as for chip just have giac do it, ..... 99.5 and earlier need to be soldered in after that its different some can be flashed some still need to be soldered..... but imo GIAC is the best, most agressive

Putting a word in for Borla here I love mine.

As for the chip my 99.5 has to have it soldered on by all manufacuters including GIAC. Most likely the person you talked to was mistaken or confused if you car is like mine. Hopefully a 2001 owner will say something.

my 99.5 is soldered but on a 2001 it really depends, they should be able to flash it but sometimes a new chip is nessicary

2001 can be flashed in like 20 min. Find a dealer within your area: www.giacusa.com and find out where one is close. Then you won't have any downtime.
