Is it possible that i can still pull codes even if the check engine light isn't on?

 

ya... some people call them "soft codes" that are stored but dont cause a CEL.

 

If the check engine light is no on it is possible to have stored codes. Codes may come up from previous issues if the computer was not reset after servicing a code.

 

Cel only comes on for emission related problems. There are numerous other codes that can be stored. In addition there are a number of non engine codes for heating system, alarms, airbag, etc that are stored and can be read with a vagcom.
