Default ...CEL...

So, after I got my HFC put in I've had my CEL come on every few hundred miles, last for a day or two, and then go away. The first time it happened I went and checked the codes and got them cleared, then it was about 1000 miles before it came on again. Tonight I was driving home from a friends place and the CEL starts blinking at me. The exhaust sounds real sloppy and at low RPMs it sounds like it might stall out.I stop the car check under the hood and do a quick inspection. Everything is fine except my exhaust sounds shitty and the CEL is blinking.Yes, I drove it back and didnt flatbed it, but on the ride back the CEL would go off then come back on and stay solid for a minute or two and then start blinking again. This happened a couple of times before I got back to my house.

Needless to say, Im gonna go to Autozone in the morning and get the codes for it, but has anyone had anything like this happen???

Could this be from my 2nd O2 sensor crappin out?

Also, I was probably gonna get a chip anyway, but would a GIAC overlook the readings from the sensor and not toss a CEL at me??

Anyway, thanks for any help.

Just getting GIAC isnt gunna eliminate the problem you are having. Get the codes and post em. You might need to do the non fouler mod to your cat, but a flashing cel usually means a misfire.

Well, I went out to start up my car this morning and take it in to get the codes read and well...the car just kinda putted out. Wouldnt even stay on for more than a few seconds. Needless to say, Im having it flatbedded to the dealer. I know itsprobably gonna cost way too much, but I cant think of anything else to do here if I cant even get the codes.

Gotta love cars...

You could have gotten a ride to autozone or wherever and rented the code reader (would have saved you $95 for the dealer diagnostic fee) and it could have been something simple... Good luck, hope the dealer doesnt rape ya too badly.

Well, it was the ICM. When that went it also blew all my plugs. I guess that coulda been the 2 min drive back to my house, but **** that all blew quick. Anyway, to anyone who suspects an ICM problem, get it fixed ASAP cause its pricey at the dealer if you dont take care of it. I dont even wanna post the price tag on that repair cause its that bad.

One other question, what all does the ICMhandle cause my car ridesa lot better with a new one in? Also, how hard is it to replace one of these myself?

Anyway, just my lessons from this and thanks for the input.

Simple to install and can be had over the net for about half what the dealer charges. I hate to ask, but how much did all this cost you? Really wish you wouldnt have taken it to the dealer, we could have saved you an *** load of money. Thats what this place is here for.
