Default CEL on :(

So my CEL came on and the car started sounding like do do. I scanned it and it says cyl 2 misfiring. I did a quick search on here and found out it could possibly be 2 problems, ignition control module or my coil packs. If somebody could help me and send me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. Where is the coilpacks and the ignition control module located under the hood? Or if somebody has a different opinion about whats wrong please feel free to let me know. Again, I did do a search but I just really really really wanna make sure what the problem is before I go out wasting my money foolishly on something that doesn't fix the problem. Thanks a bunch. oh yea 2002 1.8t 70,000 miles stock

ok u sound rly lost if u don't know where the coil packs are. i would suggest u take it to the shop but if u don't have the $$.... coilpacks are the black squarish things that each have a wire hooked up to it.
like this one:

i believe #2 is the 2nd one from the front of the car. swap it with another one from a diff cylinder and see if the anything happens.

AHH... I know where they are. I'm pretty sure I can do it myself. I really appreciate the picture. If that doesn't solve the problem is there anyway to test the ignition module to see if that could be the problem or am I just going to have to hang test a good one and see if that works.

Get 2 at a minimum. Replace the bad one and keep the extra in your car somewhere along with the tools to replace it.

I have heard there is a new red coil pack out though that hasn't gone bad yet.

I would start with swapping #2 and #3 ignition coils. Reset
the codes and see what returns. Could also be fouled spark plugs.
