CEL cherry poped w/codes....
17964 - Charge Pressure Control: Negative Deviation
P1556 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16502 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62): Signal too High
P0118 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17536 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Mult): System too Lean
P1128 - 35-00 - -
Any ideas? Im about to consult the bentley.. But this is the first place i ran to get some oppinions.. I have gotten the 17964 code several times after getting chipped. I guess its from overboosting, and had this code before putting in the n75 race valve in. It goes into limp mode and i get this code.. all ive ever had to do was restart and limp mode went away even if i didnt clear the code. NOW... i cleared the same 17964 code last night and its back, and i have these 2 other codes along with a cel and stuck in limp mode-max 10 psi. If the engine coolant temp sensor is bad, wouldnt that cause me to run rich rather than lean? and i posted yesterday about the "cracking noise" i heard like endle had about a week ago too.. Im thinking it was in fact detonation due to running lean. I've dreaded this day for almost a year now. i feel so violated.. please help me out with some ideas if you got em! Thanks.

ya im deffinately considering that as its probably the cheapest way to start troubleshooting. Thanks.. but i figured a bad etcs would give a low signal as opposed to a high one if it were bad and id run rich instead of lean.. i didnt think a high signal and lean condition was a sign of a bad etcs...
Any other ideas anyone? I have also been reading that the 17536 code could mean a bad maf. I'll be doing some logs with vag tomorrow and replace the ects because i dont have the revised green one, and ive been reading about how the stock black one is very troublesome.

17964 - Charge Pressure Control: Negative Deviation over boost (chip + n75)
P1556 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16502 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62): Signal too High You know it needs replaced
P0118 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17536 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Mult): System too Lean Again the chip + n75, MAF, FPR, and the list could go on P1128 - 35-00 - -

Thanks.. Im getting the ects today at the dealer for an amazing $6. Thats probably the cheapest part they keep in stock other than hose clamps. I hate being stuck in limp mode. Ill put it in and clear the codes and see what happens. I think the ects signal too high code is causing a lean condition/code because i know a ects with a signal too low will cause a rich condition. we'll see.
Put in the ects a couple hours ago.... Cleared the codes... Drove around for about a half hour and all is good so far. No more limp mode/CEL and no codes returned. I guess the true test is to give it some more time. I have noticed a couple positive things though, the engine seems to idle a lot smoother and the lag between shifts is pretty much gone under wot (tiptronic)-before it used to buck a little between shifts and it seems to have smoothed out now which is something i read about as a bad ects symptom on audiworld- i guess with tip/auto, cars the throtle isnt closed while shifting and if the ects is bad it causes you to either run way rich or lean during the shifts. So now i can actually chirp the tires while going into 2nd gear again-something i forgot about after getting chipped.. (im fwd by the way.) I guess the ects has been on its way out and been affecting my performance for about 8 months now. Seems like this $6 part has rejuvinated some lost power for sure. Anyone with the black top ects replace it with the revised green one even if you dont have a cel or code!!! I really feel that this part has been taking away some performance for quite some time- no placebo affect about it. Took me literaly 2 minutes to install.
