Any time you get a specific code for an O2 sensor 99% of the time the O2 sensor is bad.
So if you have bank 2 sensor 2 that means you have to replace the rear O2 on the drivers side.
Assuming you have a V6. If a 1.8T just replace the rear O2.

The lowest price i have seen for a cable is around $200 for a new one, you can get a cheaper one on e-bay but i don't recommend it. If you are gonna buy one the serial port is better than the USB if you have a serial port on your computer that is.

I don't know the exact cost of the sensor, they change quite a bit from year to year. Somewhere in the 150~200 range.
You can easilly get the rear O2 sensor out on any V6 except the 3.0L, those are a pain in the ***.

Yes, you have to have the computer hooked up to the car so you can "communicate" with the control modules.
