CEL question(yes i searched)!UPDATE!
my CEL has been on for about 2 weeks now, the car is running perfectly and i see no need to go to a stealership nor go to an autozone. I dont have the time. i know people have said disconnect the battery for 30minutes+ or can i just take off the negative? i just hate seeing the light on all the time. i have my radio code, so that is not an issue. i just passed 65k 2 weeks ago if that means anything.....
okay so my CEL light is still on. i havent tried to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes yet. but i just filled up my tank to full for the first time in a while with BP Premium fuel. and normally with a full fillup for me my trip computer tells me that i have 310-320 miles to empty. now with a fillup it said 280 miles. could this be tied to my CEL going on? maybe a fuel problem? emissions? or am i crazy? the car has still been operating perfectly since the CEL went on 2 weeks ago. Any insight?

just pull it off for 30 minutes.
plug it back in.
turn the key to ignition position, but dont turn it on for a minute or so. start it, and if the CEL doesnt come back, ur good to go. if it does, get codes pulled

Its on for a reason. Take 20 minutes of your precious time to get scanned at autozone. If you like to ignore problems and dont have time to take care of your car you shouldnt have bought an Audi. Just because everything seems ok, doesnt mean there isnt a real problem.
so if i disconnect the battery and the CEL goes away, there really isint a problem? i have been running 87 octane(for the past month) as opposed to minimum of 91 recommended. could that cause the CEL?
If its been on for 2 weeks, why bother wasting time disconnecting the battery to avoid the annoying cel??? If there wasnt a problem, you wouldnt have a cel. If there was a problem that caused your cel to come on, and that problem magically away, your cel would turn off. Once the cel is triggered by a problem, its not stuck on, it will go away within a certain amount of time or driving cycles after the problem is fixed or stopped occuring. There is a problem with your car and you should probably figure it out instead of ignoring it. Even if the car drives ok.
dude if you have time to disconnect the battery or something than you have time to go to autozone and get it scanned. it takes about 5 seconds to actually scan the car. you could be running lean/rich. you wouldn't notice anything wrong except a CEL yet it can do some damage in the long run. anybody can take 10 minutes out of their day to go get it scanned, no matter how busy they are
and no i dont think running 87 octane would cause a CEL. my guess is you probly have a split hose somewhere and your running lean. you need to start taking better care of your audi dude. 87 oct and ignoring CEL's are just gona cause you massive headaches in the long run. these cars aren't the cars you wana skimp on
