on the downside I got another CEL but only 1 code

16839 - EVAP System: Large leak detected
P0455 -35-00


I remember before it was a small leak and my mechanic told me not to worry about it but now that it's a large leak should I be worrying about it?

 

Make sure your gas cap is on tight.

 

hmmm is it running at full power? any out of normal actions?

Ya everything is running fine. The thing about the gas cap is I had the car e tested a few months ago when I baught it and the place replaced the gas cap for me so it's a brand new gas cap. Maybe because it's a standard gas cap and not an audi gas cap it might be causing problems? I was just in my garage with my chilton manual taking apart the evap system to see if i can find some broken hoses or something. Some of the hoses seem old but there's nothing that looks really out of place. I think I'm going to try replacing a few of the oldest looking hoses and buying an audi gas cap then seeing if that does the trick.

 

We just meant make sure it is on tight......but search cause I remember something about needing a certain gas cap on some of these....
