center armrest delete

Default center armrest delete

has anyone ever tried to get rid of the center armrest. it's in my way if it's down, and if its up when people are in the back it hits there knee's. i think im going to try to delete it. worth a shot.

i know it sounds crazy but if you go to your car and look and imagine it without that center armrest, atleast in my head it looks good. i dont keep anything in there anyways. i hate that thing

Centre armrest

‒Remove handbrake lever trim
‒To remove, nut -7- rear ashtray and tray insert must be removed.
‒Unscrew nut -7- (3x).
‒Remove rear section of centre console with centre armrest.
‒Unscrew bolt - 5- (1x).
‒Pull centre armrest -1- out of bottom part of support bracket -4-.
‒Unscrew bolts -6- (3x).
‒Remove bottom part of support bracket -4- from rear section of centre console -2-. [/ul]
Rear centre console [/ul]










Cut out for centre armrest

‒Cut out for centre armrest -3- in centre console -2- is premarked for retrofitting on underside.
‒For retrofitting without marking in centre console [/ul]
Bottom part of support bracket
Bolt (1x)

‒Tightening torque 10 Nm [/ul]
Bolts (3x)

‒Tightening torque 3.5 Nm [/ul]
Nut (3x)

‒Tightening torque 10 Nm [/ul][/ul]

I think pre 99or pre 98 A4's dont have one. I love my arm rest, but I guess I could live without it. Have you tried angleing it down more in a lower position? I have tip, so there is nothing in the way of shifting gears. I have driven acetrebo and arif's car (97 and 98.5 mt) and i dont even think i missed it. If I was shifting gears I can see how it might get in the way. Im sure you could figure out how to remove it.
