Hi, new member here. i tried a search but did'nt turn up too much: i own an E36 M3 and have decided look for something cheaper to own and maintain; hopefully without sacrificing too much performance. my big concern is insurance: (i have no points, over 25 etc) i'm assuming the A4 costs less to insure? 2 cars ago i had an AWD turbo'd car and loved it: so it will have to be quattro. any suggestions on 1.8T vs the 6? thanks and sorry if these are the same questions asked by every newbie...

 

1.8T is slower than the v6 stock. the difference is that 1.8T is MUCH better for modding and there is much more products for it out there. The V6 is not that good for modding. Also the obvious drawback of the 1.8T is turbo lag.

 

unless you get an S4, you will sacrifice some performance, or spend a lot of money getting anA4into M3 territory. As for cost, its no doubt cheaper than the M3, parts, labor, etc... I don't knwo about insurance, since its a luxury sedan, and the M3 is sports car, I assume its less also.

 

thanks... i realise i'll give up some performance... i'm figuring the AWD and a little boost will compensate in it's own way. i'm also counting on the day to day (and year to year) being less expensive... thanks again.
