i have blown shocks in an 01 a4 with sport susupension. How much will this cost me to repair? So i replace the springs too (keep in mind i live in new england and have to deal with lots of snow) Does anybody know what audi charges to replace?

 

look in the classifieds for some slighlty used shocks and springs.

 

are they something i can install myself?

B5 is easier than B6 IMO. Took me 5 hours to do my B5, includes 2 hours of BSing
Took 7 hours to do dan's B6...also includes about 2 hours of BS

If you aren't mechanically inclined, have them professionally installaed or get someone to help you.
You can get good replacement shocks fairly cheap.

To get a Bilstein and H&R shock & spring set (sport or race springs), you are looking at about $700 bucks.
Standard labor charge is 6 hours in my area.

 

6 hours?? Thats ridiculous. I got quoted for 2 hours and they finished in 1.5. 6 hours is max DIY time, not a professional mechanic.

 

I agree 6 hrs is BS. Several guys in the Philly have all done suspension this summer. 3-4 got quotes for 6 hours.
I think I could do a b5 is 2.5-3 hours.

 

i called momentum tuning in wallingford CT and they quoted me 5 hrs at 80 an hr (but then i need to bring it to audi myself to get a 4 wheel alignment)
