Check Engine HELP!
If you don't follow a logical troubleshooting path, then you will be wasting money trying to replace parts that are not bad.
Granted, if you are 100% sure the O2 is bad, it wont hurt to replace it.
But often codes like o2 are caused by other conditions, not a bad sensor. ie a misfire could cause the O2 to freak out and throw a code. Or a bad MAF.
So, go ahead, but then have the codes cleared, and re-read the next time the engine light comes on. Then post your codes and symptoms, and we will try to lead you down the proper steps to diagnose your issues.
Good luck.

The best would be a vag com, but you need a laptop to use it.
I have an ODBII reader I bought at Advance Auto for like $100. It reads OBDII codes from any 1996 or newer vehicle. It works fine with my Audi as well as other vehicles.
Ok I guess i didn't explain this part well enough. I've brought the car in to the shop a couple weeks ago.. the sensor IS BAD!!!!!!
Its just the check engine light that was on, but now its flashing and there's shaking... so something has gotten worse.

Like I said, if you know its bad, replace it and go from there.
I hope it fixes it for you, its a possibility. But how did they test it to say its bad? Just getting a code is no guarantee, if they did an OHM test or something and its out of spec, then they may know what they are doing.

I had a bad spark plug wire, looked fine to the eye, engine shaking got really bad when it was humid out. Mechanic squirted water on the cables with the engine running and the sparks became visible where there was a hairline crack in the insulation. Replaced that wire and the engine hasn't shaken since.
I got the O2 sensor and the Ignition Control Module replaced for $619.04 (good deal, bad deal?) and it was fine for a while... after driving it about 10 miles the check engine light came back on.
I have had this car for about 2 months and already have put at least 1500 dollars into it (probably closer to 2000, i just haven't bothered to add it up). I'll get codes and post them... but probably won't even bother fixing it and just sell the damn thing for as much as I can get.
