check engine light
i just bought my 2003 audi a4 1.8t from a dealership last week, and all of a sudden today while driving the check engine light appeared and its still on.. what could this mean? is it anything serious, should i stop driving and get it checked out immediatly?
and btw, i feel like my a4 has such little pickup, idk if thats with everyones or just mine, just checkin this out

have you ever driven a car before?? if the check engine light(CEL) ever comes on you always stop driving it asap!
a majority of the time it is related to emissions, and will be safe to drive on. but, it could be something else which can be doing a lot of harm while driving it.. take it to the dealer or local autozone/checker to get it checked. dealership will rape you though..
once you get the code you can post it here and we will tell you what is wrong.. also, search "VAG COM". it will allow you to pull the codes yourself and do a few other things. look into it..
and yes the A4 is slow. it's a heavy lux sedan with a tiny little engine and tiny little turbo

k good i was just checkin that my car wasn't reALLY fucked up cus the pickup was ****** rediculously bad... but yea, if i take it to autozone how much would they charge? when it popped up nothing different changed, it still feels and sounds the same nothing different about it
my check engine goes on all the time i got it checked out and then just said it was a first cylinder miss fire and it only happens every now and then but they told me if it ever pops up again that nothings wrong so i dont know if im gettin screwed over
If your check engine light goes on and stays on, you should have it looked at as soon as possible but you don't have to stop driving the car. Steady CEL is usually an emissions related problem (EVAP leak, O2 sensor, running too rich or lean, etc.). But if your CEL is FLASHING, you should pull over, since these sorts of faults (usually misfires) can damage your catalytic converter.
