check engine light comes on when i have 4 people in my a4

my check engine light comes on after i have 4 people in my 2001 a4, it stays on for a few days, then turns off and doesnt turn back on till i have a few people in my car, anyone know what is going on?

oh, the light that should have come on was the mod-engine light, see with that many people in the car, the computer is telling you that you need more power. hahaha
