Default check oil light?

Hey All, I am new here and was looking for a bit of advice before i get raped at the dealer this week. Last night I was driving on the freeway and my check oil light turned on. Right after this I lost power to the car and now it will not start. If I try to start it will not turn over? It sounds like it won't fire. My thought was the comp. sensed a problem and to eliminate the risk of blowing the motor, it will now not start? It will be going into the shop Monday but wanted to get a feel of what I'm in for, or see if there is an "easy" fix? Any advice or tips would be excellent!! Also I have had all scheduled oil changes and maintanance.

You don't mention engine or model/year.

Either way this does not sound good. Did you check to see if you have oil? This sounds like you lost oil pressure and your engine is seized. Not good.

If your oil level is OK, then either your oil screen got clogged or your oil pump failed.

Start gathering all your receipts for oil changes. If it is sludged engine and a clogged screen, Audi MAY pay for repair. Have it flatbedded to the dealer.

yea my light came on once, all my oil was leaking out. the thing that the oil filter screws onto blew up and had a hole in it. if it wernt for that little light i might not have an engine anymore. i really hope u pulled over and turned off ur car when u seen that light. id say if u have oil ur pump went and u fried ur moter, or u have no oil at all. id say ur in for a new ride

Maybe an oil sludge issue?

Have not heard back from the shop yet. All they can say so far is that I have NO compression. I should get the full story Tuesday. Things are not looking good...

I am interested in what the verdict is. I have the same car and very much worried about this sludge issue.

Well, as long as your original owner properly serviced their oil you should be ok.
I blew my turbo. Since I felt only blowing the turbo was not nearly enough, I also felt like throwing in my shortblock too.
So I basically feel sick to my stomach right now. Anyone looking for a new car? Oh yeah, it has no engine or turbo.

The original owner of the vehicle leased the car and therefore doesn't care about maintenance. The second owner traded it in because of the expected maintenance work. I got it and I am hoping that it will last me at least a couple of years.
