Check out these snow damaged Audi's:
I think most states allow salvage to be registered, there are other brands they put on the title if its not to be registered ever again, and a salvage title only brings the retail down 20%

I think that salvage can also be caught in a flood, so that could be whats wrong with the cars that dont seem like anything is wrong.

yeah I dont think there is an issue with driving the cars, just when you go to sell your car its against the law to not include "salvage title" in the ad. SO if you buy one of those you just threw all that money away.
trust me when i say buying a salvaged title could be the worst mistake of your life.
my dad owns a body shop and ive seen everything from pintos to cavaliers to bmws totalled to pieces and we'll scoop em up and restore them, sometimes without even reporting the "salvage" so the title stays clean.
SOMETIMES you will git a good egg. you'll fix what was totalled and then be alright and it will run like a normal car, in perfect functionality. i was lucky with my del Sol, i bought it for 300 bucks, fixed it, (although 5 days after i fixed it a deer ran into me and totalled it) painted it a new color and sold it for over $4,000. not to shabby, and no r-title.
however, we have done this with many cars in our day, and usually it ends in u spending so much money fixing everything that will malfunction on ya, that u were better off to just stop holdin ur butthole so tight and just crap out ur change and buy a non-r-titled vehicle.
unfortunately, before purchasing my current audi, we found marks of a frame bending machine and some kinks in the frame under the hood. also im pretty sure almost every panel was painted. my seat belt is goofy, my cruise control doesnt work, and my front fog lights wont stay on(the button wont stay in...grrr) and im pretty sure its not even the right button, it looks like its from a newer model a4. but i got such a deal i couldnt pass it up. i needed a new battery and to put some shocks on(so of course i did it big and got some bilsteins) and also my headlight switch went bad after about 3 weeks of driving it(my car sat for about a year before i bought it)
but now everything seems to run great, and i guess its not so bad considering the price i paid for a non-r-title.
but if ur buying salvaged, id stay away with anything that has an onboard computer, or any bmw, benz, etc. becuz chances are ur gonna b payin out ur *** while u own it. if u settle for salvage, then honda, ford, etc. is the way to go, IMO

I would NEVER buy one, because I have yet to see the car I want to keep forever. Well, I guess there are some, but they start at 6 figures[:@]

I know exactly the car I want to keep forever and I would never buy a salvaged one. They have issues other then the title.
