Default chime problem

I just bought an Audi-A4 1.8T 1997 model.
it runs fine. But apart from flickering dashboard light..there are 2 small problems.

1. The chime doesnt work when I open the dorr with the ignition key in or with headlights on.
2. The front seats are tough to pull or push back and I feel as if its jammed and needs oiling or something like that..
Please advise.

Thank you

1. maybe a fuse if blown but other then that its not a huge deal just remember to turn the lights off
2. Just get some oil in there and it should be fine, my passanger one was difficult to move and then it was oiled and now its super smooth

I had the same problem with the chime. Very common problem which normally resides in the instrument cluster. The speaker is located behind it and often blows or stops working for whatever reason. You have to replace the entire cluster, which is expensive and not worth it.

Make sure your interior lights are functioning properly when the door is opened or closed. You could have a drivers door switch that doesnt know its opening.

I checked ... my interior lights are working fine...
Its only that my seat belt chiming and headlights on with open door chimin doesnt work.. I hope it all from the same thing not a separate things.
Rest is real cool.
I was actually looking for a cd-mp3 player which cud fit in place of the factory 'DELTA' radio+cassette player. Is there any that fits exactly int the same dimensions.. or something which increases car's grace??
All kinds of ideas are welcome.
thanx
