Default chip, KO4, lowering springs

Hey guys. Just bought my '00 B5 1.8T quattro a few months ago. So far just threw on some 18"x8.5" RS6 wheels. A couple questions:
I was leaning towards the APR chip, and was wondering how much harder the added torque is on the tranny. Is this something to worry about? Also about how much total would a KO4 w/ everything required cost? Last but not least, I would like to lower the car, will this make it ride crappy? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the trannys are said to be safe up2 350 but its the only weak link in a a4 when it comes to the power....well i guess for me bc i have an 01 and they have full forged internals and the earlier years only have a forged crank

And a stage 1 chip only brings torque up to about 230 lb/ft?
