Default chip now or continue saving for bigger power?

hello,

I got $1000 from uncle sam from taxes and I could

Chip $500 + shipping & installation
GT2X $1300, $800 (ATP/Mika Tuned Fueling Kit) + shipping & installation
GTRS $1600, $800 (ATP/Mika Tuned Fueling Kit) + shipping & installation

so

i could

1) get car chipped now $625 Including Labor (GIAC)

2) save $1100 + shipping & installation and get a GT2X kit

3) save $1400 + shipping & installation and get a GTRS kit

I plan on keeping the car for 3-5 years before I trade it in

which would be the wisest choice to do

I have a 2001 Audi A4 Avant 1.8T MTX Quattro

If i work my *** off, I could possible get enough to turbo it by mid June

Another question,

I would also need to get a stage3 clutch if i upgrade turbo right? and i'll need to get an intercooler?and exhaust??........ all those = $$$$$$$$$$

im not an expert on engines, but if you do upgrade to a bigger turbo, an exhaust system with some wider piping is needed. An intercooler is also important. There's also a few more inciidentals, but those two are pretty much musts.

very simple;

If you want some power without any problem and cost you less ---> Go with chip, or no more than basic k04 setup

You want more and more power and wanna spend more money, you are ready to handle all kind of problems, you are ready to be without your car because it dies on you without any reason then you want some BT setup! go with BT setup.

thanks for the tip

I forgot bout the k04.

thats more me, something little more than stock but not outrageous

I did a quick search on google and found the kits to be $2400!!!! thats a GT28RS range......

I searched for the turbo alone and its $725 shipped

If i recall correctly all it is to k04 is k04 turbo and software right?? (GiAC)??

and whats the chp/whp and ctq/wtrq on it??

If you do go BT, don't get the Mika software. It sucks. There is no other tuning for the gt2x turbo, which is why no one is really running that turbo. If you go GTRS, use unitronic tuning if your a b5, or REVO tuning if your a b6.
