Default Clearcoat starting to peel

Hey guys,

I'm going to start taking the car to the local bodyshops and stuff for quotes today but I was looking for some thoughs on this in the mean time.

At the top of my hood, just under the drivers side windshield wiper I have a small section of clearcoat that looks to have peeled off slightly. It's about the size of a penny at the moment and looks to be pretty stuck around the edges (no fraying and its not loose at all)

Now, to fix this properly, I'm assuming the bodyshop will want to sand the area and then blend the paint and reapply the clearcoat to the area. Would this be correct? Whats the cost of something like this?

I'm tossing up between spending the money to get the paint redone or simply picking up a Carbon Fiber hood and put the OEM hood in the basement and be done with it.

If I go the carbon fiber route, is there a prefered vendor to deal with (good service, experiences and above all good fit) or are the ebay hoods OK?

Any thoughts or suggestions at this point would be greatly appreciated.

How much is it too repaint your WHOLE car?

Mines a 99 Black, and there alot of deeper scratches (buffing doesnt help)

I want it smooth, clean, and sexy (which it still it , since its an AUDI)

I don't think so, but I could be wrong, I've only had the car for a couple of months.

I didnt notice it at all until I washed it over the weekend, so it really is not all that noticeable unless your looking for it. So I may just have the car detailed up and see how it stands up over the this summer have the entire car done next summer. It really depends on the quotes I get this afternoon, I'd prefer to get my wheels and rear valence this summer.... decisions, decisions...

I'd say to paint the whole car in an Audi factory color at a good bodyshop would be in the neighborhood of $4000 or so? maybe more?

not waxing the paint can also casue this. Paint needs moisture too! it prob looks like spiderwebs, my old explorer had that from not waxing it.

1st quote is $702 to paint the hood and blend with the side fenders.

I have another place to go to tomorrow, if its the same price or higher I'll probably just spend the $600 on a CF hood.
