I just got my a4 saturday and i've sorta noticed the same thing (i used to have a taurus and it's was super hot/cold), i think that's just how the climate control works because the air temp it blows adjusts to a certain temp that you want to maintain in the car, not necessarily the temp of the air itself. If you let it go on high temp for awhile, it should warm up the car pretty toasty and rather quickly, at least that's what i've experienced, but the air temp never seems that hot. an audi mystery? who knows!

Hi blast welcome to the Forum. First off what year is your car? If its older. it would most likely be the heater core starting to go out. I have a 96 A4 and I get awesome heat from it.

I have excellent heat from my 97. It is not your climate control, it is something else. As redgoat said, could be a blocked heater core, or the flaps that regulate the air mixture are not working.

You can disconnect the heater line hoses and flush it out with a garden hose.

hi all

the car is 1996

i have felt the inlet and outlet hoses that run to the heater and they are quite hot, so i wouldnt think it's a blockage

but deffinaitly no where near the same heat inside as the hoses.

im baffles

well now

i flushed the inlet/outlet heater matrix and was all clear no blockage.

and then gave the cooling system a flush. it didnt help it that i could tell.

then i went through the climate control codes as sugested by a kind member and found no faults with the c/control

then took the c/control out an cleaned all connections. Still not a great heat

im stumpted

You filled it back up with G12 and distilled water right?

Next step would be to check the flap motor. How you go about this is beyond me though.
