Clutch and flywheel install

my clutch is fine for now, but im wanting to get a performance clutch with a lightened flywheel. I have the quattro and im wondering how big of a b!tch it is to do the flywheels and whole clutch assembly install.?

what differences will i tell with the lightened flywheel?, and is it any problem going from the sprung flywheel, to the sprung disc?

do you ever search to have some idea of what to ask about? Sprung FW? that makes no sense. The clutch disc are sprung or unsprung

Well its possible, i did it with my uncle using jackstands. You will need a helping hand period. I dont remember but there are quite a few bolts mounting the tranny to the motor, most are not a problem but the ones on top can suck. You will have trouble taking it out on your own and lining it back up but all depends if you are using a lift or not.

The clutch is cake on a 1.8T, you just need the clutch alignment tool and your all set.
P.S. stop making cincyTT blow O-rings and search before posting.

its even easy on the quattro?

and about the sprung....i heard that the "spring" was in the flywheels assembly on the stock ones...not on the disc itsself....

Its easier on a quattro, i can pull those transmissions out in 20 minutes with a decent rack.
The only thing inside the flywheel is the pilot bearing, then there is the clutch disc that rides on that, followed by the pressure plate holding it all together. FYI

ok, but i will be going with a lightened flywheels with new disc, pressure plate, and everything.

but do you have to take the driveshaft out? or how exactly do you go about doing it?. you drop the whole trans..correct?

any diff. in HP or quickness with the flywheel?

Of course you have to drop the drive shaft, just un-bolt it and let it hang.
You won't have to hang the motor on a 1.8T, just un-bolt the rear part of the subframe and that should give you access to the top of the trans so you can pull those bolts out. Un-bolt all the linkages from the top and take out the starter and yank that bitch!
