cold air does next to nothing on our cars... also you dont want to use a BOV, you want a diverter valve... they recirculate...
your best mod for the $ is a chip... see www.giacusa.com or www.goapr.com for info on a couple of the most popular ones.
If you chip, most people here will suggest the OEM 710N diverter valve... its like 30 bucks, and a good improvement over stock equipment.
EDIT: are you in a 1.8T or a 2.0T?

2005 1\2 would be a 2.0, mine is a 2005 1.8T, with the diverter valve does it give it that different sound when shifting gears like the BOV?? when u say the best for your $ is a chip your talking about 1000$ for a chip correct? i'm really not looking to spend that much as it is only a lease and might buy it at the end just not sure as of yet, but what else would be a good mod for less money, such as cold air? what else would u recommend?

SETH
I have a 2003 A4 with APR chip and mine is on a lease. Its well worth the $900 Can. I spent.
APR says 209HP & 236Lbs TQ . Its a huge improvment over the stock performance. Well worth it! Even on the lease.
A cold air and DV alone wont do much. Maybe 5 HP.
So, which makes more sense ?
Its the best 900 I even spent.

Honestly, your best bet is to talk to Jestnomen about this... he's keeping current on the B7 (2005.5+) situation, I guarantee it!
I think one of the only chips available right now is MTM, and you have to send your ECU out, so your down a car for a few days... and MTM is also fairly costly.
When you say 1000 dollars, are you in canada? Chips are usually around 500USD... Less than an exhaust anyways... and much more gains.
Just leave your diverter valve stock... if its brand new, it'll be fine. If you chip the car, you'll want to upgrade to the 710N over a few months... because the added boost will wear out the stock 710's spring. The 710N has a stiffer spring, to hold more boost.
But yes... if you're wanting more power... let the chip (and 35 dollar 710N) be your only upgrades... you'll be happy... you'll be happier than happy. You'll wonder why people are buying 3.2L's I think the chip on the 2.0T is putting the car to 250 hp or so -- and more torque than the v6 too!
