Default concerned about car

My car is starting to make noise a shhh sound when in between gears. The noise is most noticeable when in neutral and shifting into gear.
I am trying to get an idea of what it could be before taking in. I don't want to jump into it blindly. Unless this is a normal sound
which then I wouldn't have to worry. Also the noise is heard the loudest when holding the shifter all the way right before going into fifth. There
are no check enginge lights on. This sound cannot be reproduced at a stop. Any help would be appreciated, thank you. I am driving a '03 A4 1.8t with 75,000 miles

Just wanted to update the sound increases in noise with speed no grinding a steady shhh sound could be associated with something else?

your right no gas coasting, if I hold the shifter right or left it is continuos noise it. If I am just shifting normal gear to gear it's louder from fourth to fifth.

I dont believe so. the only thing i can think of is maby something to do with your synchros. like they are enguaging partially before being put into that gear causing a noise. but i really dont see how that could happen.... is there a rough feel at all when you do this? or is it just a noise.
