conflicting information
what i was told was a slipping clutch creates hot spots in the flywheel weakening it and sometimes causing cracks. i have one in the garage that cracked from when we had a 350 small blcok in the Z.
i was aslo told that you can't resurface a stockdual mass fw.

i have been getting conflicting information about this whole clutch crap. so hopefully some people here can clear things up
1. Audi dealership told me there is and i quote "absolutely no way a slipping clutch can damage a flywheel". i described my situation and they said i dont need a new flywheel. people here have told me the exact opposite.
A clutch that is woren out can damage the flywheel
2. my friend said a stage 3 clutch will burn out much faster than a stock clutch would, but another friend said that was bullshit. who's right?
the stage 3 is stronger therefore it will last longer
3. a guy told me that my flywheel only needed to be resurfaced not replaced. is this true?
depends on the damage done. sometimes you can resurface it other times it needs to be replaced
reason why i wana get all this figured out BEFORE i open up the tranny is cuz i can get the clutch put in for next to nothing down in south florida but i can only be down there for the weekend cuz of college so i gota order the parts beforehand.

k sweet. thanx for the answers guys. i guess im jus gonna have to get it done in town and pay the extra money. i'd probly spend close to that amount towing it down there and gas and everything anyways i guess.
so my future plans for the car are a full gt3071r .63 AR. what stage southbend clutch would be best? im thinkin stage 4 but could i get away with a stage 3? im tryin to save as much money as i can lol

i cant seem to find any dyno's of a gt3071r on an a4. i found some a couple months back when i was doing research but cant seem to find any now. anyone know where i can find one?
Stage 4 is a HEAVY duty clutch. Thats for like 530+ hp. When you buy a stage 4 for an everyday driver it will be a big pain in the ***. You will get a ton of clattering, and your car will shake like a b****, that isif you dont get it up to like 4000rpms and release the clutch quickly. Flywheels are not that expensive, I would go with a single mass flywheel, that will be a lot lighter than the duel mass oem flywheel. Also the single mass will give you a tad bit extra horse power b/c those are only around 10 pounds vs the 24 pound oem.
So I think that a stage 3 or maybe even a stage 2 would get the job done. I have a specstage 1 clutch and pressure plate along with a fidanza flywheelin my 02 1.8T. and it will be able to hold up to around 320hp. And thats a stage 1!!

with a lwfw you will also gain more vibrations and ****, because the stock dm flywheel dampens vibrations.. but if you are eventually going 3071, i dont think you are going to give a damn about a little vibration

so anyone have links to a dyno sheet?
