Default Confused... Very

Right thats it, im confused, as usuall,

Ive been looking around here for a few days (been using the search feature).

I am going to be getting a 2002 or 2003 A4 B6 1.8T Quattro Sport 163BHP UK Model

Please can these question be answered??

1. I want to install a chip. Is it something I can install myself?

2. Whats the best chip on the market

3. Should I install anything else to compliment the chip? (I will be installing some type of CAI if available and probably a Borla cat back exhaust). Or will i need to add more mods?

4. Is a FMIC (as i understand it basically a intercoller right??) only needed when the turbo is upgraded.

5. My friend as a Golf 1.8T and had it remapped at a place called http://www.jabbasport.co.uk .. Whats the difference between a remap and a chip? And whats the best?

6. A4 Avant or Sedan??

Sorry for the questions, but i really dont want to do mods in the wrong way, they need to be done properly or not at all.

I dont like bad mods.

Cheers all

first u cant install the actual chip by ur self but u can just send ur ecu to a place like giac or apr, they install the chip then send it to u and u just pop it back in.
second the brand u go with is up to u, do some research and u will find giac or apr to be the most popular.

third the only thing u need to upgrade is ur diverter valve so it will hold the extra boost. all other mods will help with performance but u can get those as u go

fimc is nice to have but u dont have to have one to get a chip

fifth i think a chip is better cause it reprograms everything not just fuel and air settings

and u probaly want the sedan id ur lookn for performance out of it, but avants are sleepers.

good luck hope this helps

heh heh - avants handle better than sedans for the most part (at leats until you completely do a custom tuning). The weight distribution is better. I've had both on the same aftermarket suspension.

I wish I had got an avant, def the sleeper, and i could have got more stuff packed into my dorm room.

You guys in Europe have much better tuners then we do here. Talk to Grega, he's in Slovenia but may still be able to help you out. He's got agreat tuner. Also Jabbasport is a very reputable company and they do have some great stuff out.

Cheers for the info, i think once ive got the car I am going to visit Jabbasport and give them a couple of grand and ask them to sort it for me. Im gonna go with the sedan, I dont really need the space the Avant offers.

Thanks once again

Before you get the car, have it checked thoroughly by an independent mechanic and see when the timing belt was last changed.
