Default Control Arm

i need to get lower and upper control arms put in, i have a 99 2.8Q, is there a writeup for this, it will probably 2 hard for me to do on my own so do you guys know how long a mechanic would take to do these two? and should i go to the dealer and tell them to look at it because there was a recall for the upper control arm i think? i had it checked before but they told me they were fine yet i always had clunking on the right side of my car.. i nailed 6 inch pothole and bent my rim which may have pretty much destroyed the control arms?

the upper arms are 2.5 hours each book time as for the lowers witch one is gone the lower fronts were the ones on the recall

I have 2001 A6 2.8Q and I just got both upper and lower control arms for the driver side done. The lower arms are easy to install but the upper ones are tough to get in. I had my mechanic replaced all the control arms for the driver side. It took him a day to replace all control arms. It costs me around $900 to replace all control arms which includes labor also.

About Recall: There are no recalls on my 2001 A6. I checked with dealer and also with AudiUSA customer service and they told me that there are no recalls related to control arms. I guess you have to get it done. I know it is annoying.

It's not a hard install, but they can be stubborn especially if you live in an area where they salt the roads. It took me forever to get the pinch bolt out cause it was so rusted. I would recommend you replace all the arms and the tie rod at the same time, the Meyle kit is around 500 and you'll need an alignment after that's around 75.

It took me 4 weekends to put everything in, but I did shocks, strut tower brace, brakes, tie rods, and control arms.

Were the control arms and tie rods a major PITA? Mine are gonna need changing soon but I think they've been good (100k on the car). After installing a bunch of stuff myself recently, I can't really justify paying a mechanic to do anything except for really major stuff.

I needed to get my upper and lower arms fixed.. and a few more little peices here and there... Audi estimate was 1600 in labour and 3000-5000 in parts.. I just went to a different shop (private german auto shop).. 150 in labour and around 800 in parts..
