Cool Air Intake
Hey, i am looking for a cool air intake for my 1999.5 1.8Turbo Quattro. My price range is around $200. Any suggestions as to what i should get? Im mostly looking to get more horse-power. Any other ideas for anything in that price range? thanks.

id make ur own for 75 with a k&n cone filter. dont get the oem drop in bc people say the oil in that will destroy ur maf making u pay more than a cai is worth. just take ur box off and stick the cone filter onto the maf extention and go buy aluminium and cut ya a heat shield. i just feel your restricting it putting that 180 bend in it and 250 for a cool sound a 1-2 hp aint worth it when u could save it and buy better ****. i mean with 200 you could prob get the filter race valve and a dv and gain 10 hp. granted youll prob have to shop around or maybe find some of this stuf used but it will be well worth it. plus once you upgrade to a chip youll really notice your chip alot more than just havin a stupid evom or lltek cai on.
clc,
I fully respect your opinion, but I beg to differ on this... I just installed an EVO CAI and new exhaust system and I fully felt a noticeable difference. The thing is I installed the exhaust first, expecting noticeable results, but did not see much at all. However when I installed the CAI I felt a VERY noticeable result. I suspect it was the combination of both working together (more air in, more air out), but I definitely felt a difference after I installed the CAI. $ for $, is it worth it? I'd say yes, but an ECU upgrade is definitely going to be more bang for your buck, but I am happy with my CAI, just my $.02 HTH's...
