one of two things, either the temp sensor is out(G62) or the thermostat is stuck open, temp sensor isnt hard but thermostat is a pain. it may also be the cold weather but i doubt that.

It could very likely be the cold weather. Mine only goes to 1/4 in the winter, and 1/2 in the summer.

Mine always goes to half when warmed up no matter what the outside temp is.

Mine goes to half in -14 degree weather and about burns me out of my car with heat inside. It's been real cold here up untill today, it finally got up to 10 degrees for a high but lately in the mornings it has been bad.

Yeah it was -16 the other night and my coolant temp went to half way, although my heater sucks lately, one day it just decided not to be as warms anymore. I have it set to 81 degrees all the time and it never is "hot" in my car. I used to sweat my *** off with it at 74, I always keep it on auto too. Atleast it works somewhat![>:]

Hey all the temp sensor. Is it that part that sits behingd the engine, close to the firewall , and it is held in with a plastic clip...

chances are...

98% thermostat - (buy from dealer)
1% temp sensor
1% waterpump- yes i have seen them go on the cool side and the hot side.

from my experience it sounds like a thermostat. I have had two go out in one year (pepboys/autozone), so I got one from AUDI and haven't had a problem for abou 8 months now.
