Coolant Question
I dont know why you are saying that you NEED to use audi g12. g12 is not chemically different than some other antifreezes. When my mechanic fixed mine, he put in some stuff called 'zerox extreme life'(also pink) from napa which is lifetime antifreeze, and that was almost 30,000 miles ago.

Why risk trouble to save 3 dollars.
BTW, to the original poster: adding coolant doesn't solve the problem. It gets rid of the SYMPTOM. The PROBLEM is that you have a coolant leak somewhere.
Find it.

yeah, dont worry about the coolant type at all. i make a lot of money replacing heater cores and radiators from people"helping" their car by adding anything other than g12 or water to top them up. if everybbody looked at thebottle or read their manual i might not have as much work.. the ONLY time i have ever seen rust in a g12 system is when someone has used the incorrect coolant.. so go ahead, sludge it all up for me..
same goes for not using synthetic in ALL 1.8t engines.. may be cheaper now, but after a while you will have to pay me at least $1000 to repair your oil light on and clatter.. so go ahead, take it to jiffy lube

^^ +1 The silicates in aftermarket coolant breakdown hoses and the tap water most people use rusts radiators and heater cores. The only time I replace radiators, hoses and heater cores at work is when people changed the fluid with aftermarket coolant.
