coolent leak please help!!!

ok... so i drive my car... and then park... then there is a huge puddle under my car... so i open the hood... and the coolent is way way low i drive a 97 1.8t... quattro... does anyone know what a common problem is.. with leaky coolent... or what could it be... becuase i dont think its leaking when im driving... it could be... but the puddle on the ground i think matches up with whats on the ground... but i dont know because im not under the car while im driving... lol..i just dont know what to fix... waterpump?... hoses... and i cant put my finger on whats leaking when im under the car because its dripping off the engie block... any ideas... please help

check the hoses at the oil cooler, they always seem to have problems. Is there like a pinkish brown crust around your oil filter if so then there is your problem. It normally doesn't leak alot to leave a huge puddle, just a slow leak. Otherwise check all your hoses.

yea I have a slow leak. Very slow, barely noticable but I'll get it fixed soon.

the water pump is the first thing to check because it weeps when the car is idle and engine not running, another thing to consider is are you using the aircon because it builds up ice on the pipes and is the cause of puddles under the car, also as sugested check all the pipes

My car did the same thing and it was just a loose coolant hose that is connected to the enigne block. Just put it back on with a new clamp and fixed the problem for me.

be sure to check at the back of the block. the thermostat housing? is back there and
mine is leaking too. i need to change the gasket which is rotted

ok... so i put it up on the rack today... no i dont have a rack in my garge... damn i wish... i took it to my school... put it up on the rack... its the pullie on the water pump!!... god damn it!!! now i need a new water pump... thanks for the help... but now i have to pull of the water pump... and replace it...but its better then a new engine... so... better now then later...
