Default Cost of Transmission Repair/Replacement

I'm very near buying a 2001 A4 with 94k on it. (I posted something on it awhile ago but didn't get many replies)....

Anyway, I'm worried about the transmission. The belts are fine, and the joint are okay as well. I didn't notice any problems with the tranny-different than my ford explorer-but no problems.

However, what does it cost to rebuild or replace the tranny in an a4? (1.8t)??????

Or will it even go out in the next 40-50k miles?

All transmissions die at some point. I have 149k on my original ford transmission in my SHO. That right there is a restament to that if a transmission is well cared for it can last a while.

If its manual or an auto, make sure the fluid has been changed per Audi's specs.

Tipronic trans. quattro.

I was told by the service tech at the Audi Dealership (not selling this car), that the transmissions in those cars are solid and as long as the fluids are replaced, I'm okay.

that will be fine, just not much more. but just chip and exhust , you'll be fine. They also make whats called the tip-chip, for your trany, makes it shift alot faster and cleaner.
