Sorry if i wasn't clear...i have the same car...a 1997 Audi A4 1.9 Tdi...the other ecu was from my older brothers 1996 audi A4 19tdi...but his ecu was reprogramed...my question is: since his car was wrecked...i manage to safe the ecu...an if i hook it up to my audi, will there be any trouble? because of all the sensors that went of in the crashed car? do you see any major problem in this swap? thanks for the reply...peace

But i guess the concept of ecu's are the same...if i plug a ecu that came from a car that head a crash, will there any prob with this? like will any sensores go dead? or will my airbags still work? will the car work? thanks...peace...

it's a good question. I want to say I doubt that there'd be any problem, but I can't say for sure. maybe try it, and see if any warning lights come up? I think if anything was wrong with the airbag system, the airbag light will come on.

as long as the two cars have the same drive train (awd/fwd)...and the same tranny (man/auto) you should be fine...even if they had different drivetrains and trannys, you could probably still adjust it using a vag...

I'd say throw it in, and drive it, if you notice any issues, put the stockie back in and call it a failure...

good luck!

If possible, maybe try resetting it before putting it in? If it has error codes stored from things that went off in the crash, maybe you want to clear them before transferring it. I don't know if this is needed or if it will do any good.
