So.. I bought a Audi A4 1997 in october. It has now started to creak a little in the front axle/tire area just when I drive, not necessarily when I turn just driving straight it'll do it. Any ideas as to what it is or how to fix it?

 

Don't know what it is. But my back end creeks over bumps and whatnot.

 

Sounds like the typical bad control arms.

 

get on that....there is a recall on em, check to see if its been done.

 

i thought the recall was for 99 and older

I know mine creak in the summer, not in the winter - weird.

Anyways I went to the dealer for the recall, they said its the uppers, lowers are fine. I got under there and its definately the lowers - $@&^$@s won't replace them, they just want $$. Even worse, there is only one Audi dealership within a 2 hour radius.

 

yea uppers are not covered, that was my prob. the reason the creek in the summer and not the winter is because they dry aou in the summer...........
