Default Creaking Noise

2000 A4 1.8T Q

I'm getting a low creaking noise at the first turn of the steering wheel after ignition. Also, at low speeds I am getting a different creaking noise after going over uneven road.

Could this be a tie rod issue? Pls.. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I also had them greased, and it helped. I would try that first.

I'm having some creaking too, yet i have new front control arms and tie rods, i've read about the possibility of it being the bushings, has this ever happened to anyone?
Do you think greasing/lubing it will help?

thanks!

I'll try the greasing first and will let you know how it pans out.
would this be related to the creaking at the first turn of the wheel after ignintion?

If your car has done 75,000 miles it might be worth changind the tie rods. They tend to fail on our cars which can lead to some pretty hairy moments.

thanks lidonnit!

i have about 62K miles at the moment... the creaking only occurs at slow speeds but it's quite noticeable
i'm not very mechanically inclined so i'll probably go to a shop for it... otherwise it's the dealership... tune up is come soon anyway so i'll probable have it done next week

keep y'all posted

does anybody know how much labour is required to replace the tie rod ends? Part Price also? I'm looking at taking it to the dealership and i would like to be a little prepared in the event I get sticker shock

thanks B
