Default Cruise control problem

Hello,

I am new to this forum and have a question about my cruise control

I have a 2000 A4, when I bought the car (used) the cruise control resume/increase speed switch did not work properly, when the switch was activated the cruise control stopped. This happened occasionaly, however I noticed that when I started a trip the first 3 times the switch was activated it always workes, when it is used for more then 3 times the switch fails in about 1 of 2 times. The car was under guarantee so the switch was replaced. Now after 1,5 year exact the same problem occurs again.

My dealer tels me this is not a common problem and it's just my bad luck.

When my switch only last for 1,5 years there must be more people with this problem.

Does anyone know this problem ?

Faulty switches are a VERY common problem. Mine is messed up too! The dealer is full of it.

When you use the resume speed feature, you must go a little faster than the speed you want to resume.

My 2000 A4 has this problem constantly. My 1998.5 A5 had it intermittently.
It is very common and the dealer is either ignorant or BSing you.

It is good to know that this is not just bad luck.

Is it difficult to replace the switch, do I need special tools for this ?

Try spraying the switch with Radio Shack tuner cleaner.

My cruise controll does not operate as well. It's not bad luck, it's Audi.
