Default CVT's

was 2003 the first year that audi put cvt's in the a4's? i've been reading up on them a little bit and was just curious what owners testimonials/impressions/opinions would be. i read somewhere that it actually accelerates faster than a manual trans. because it is always geared in the best ratio for torque, is this just a bunch of bs?

nope , you are right.
Audi claims they are faster then a manual... but they are also FWD.

is there a reason its only on FWD? does audi have plans to make a AWD with cvt? i mean, suburu already has one, same with saturn (vue) and ford (500).

if you plan on doing any modding, i would stay far away from a CVT...they are the weakest tranny available for the audi....you can get CVT specific chips from GIAC that have HALF the torque of the regular chip, that's how crappy they are.

DSG is the future. Not CVT.
